Specializing in large-scale/multi-panel abstraction, Alannah Krutina is primarily interested in creating spaces of 'Visual Silence' in an increasingly visually-inundated world. By emptying the canvas of reference to things known and seen, she questions the basic premise of traditional painting. Applying layer upon layer of extremely thinned colour, the resulting paintings have an energy that can impact the viewer physically rather than purely visually. |
